I used to board down to D&Ds after class for a quick panini lunch. Always hit the spot. Now, 7 years later, I can say that the D&Ds sandwich station has really elevated their game. Every aspect of their penthouse sandwich has improved - the chicken was tender and juicy, the bread was perfect, the sauces felt much more fresh, and the serving was huge. It’s rare to visit a nostalgic place and find it even better than before.

Perfect grocery store for college students who want good beer and exotic snacks. Definitely not an affordable option for most groceries, but their well curated beer, cider, and seltzer selection is a draw. Great employees as well.

This place has such a great selection of very niche things. Lots of candy and drinks. The beer section in the back is phenomenal and offers lots of selection. Although it's not the cheapest, if you're in Evanston and into beer or trying new beers, this is the place to go. The deli is also great. The sandwiches are delicious and aren't too badly priced.

It’s a wonderful business with very helpful and polite staff! They offer a huge variety of drinks and food at great prices. You absolutely must try the sandwich they make, as well as the burger from the fast food section!

Deli Sandwiches are Phenomenal. My bf and I tried our way through the menu and were extremely pleased. Penthouse is the best, Adonso and Classico also really good.

Live in the neighborhood and have been coming here for years. This review / rating relates solely to my experience during a visit today. I grabbed some beer from the cooler after collecting my sandwich and, upon picking up the six pack from the checkout counter after paying, the bottom of the cardboard carrier completely ripped apart, the bottles fell to the floor with one shattering while the another two landed on my feet and started venting carbonation from the dented bottle caps. I was in flip flops, didn’t feel super great!

The cashier called the manager to come up to the register to clean up the glass and spill on the floor and I asked "Ok if I grab a replacement for the six pack?" to which he responded curtly, "No." Confused, I attempted to clarify, assuming he didn’t understand what had occurred, “It's not actually my fault, the bottom completely fell out of the carrier. It's not like I dropped them." and he responded with "Well, it's not our fault either." I guess if it had fallen apart 20 seconds earlier when the cashier picked it up to scan it, it would have been their problem, but just unfortunate timing and luck on my part!

He then went on to say that he had stocked that very brand of beer earlier that morning and "They didn't look like that then, maybe a student was messing with them or something." So, the working theory is Northwestern students are coming in and sabotaging the cardboard beer carriers in the cooler for the lulz? Doesn't seem super likely to me, but okay! To be clear, I can afford to eat the $12 I paid for the six pack, but as a longstanding and loyal customer it seemed pretty odd to be blamed for not more closely inspecting the items they are offering for sale before deciding to purchase. Bizarre. Duly noted!

We need more places like this in Evanston. I can get an egg sandwich for breakfast and pick up milk, eggs, bread, nuts, and other staples in one quick, uncrowded, nearby neighborhood store/restaurant. It's not ideal for everything and doesn't quite replace the need to visit a large grocer now and then but I love it for simple and reasonably priced items with minimal issues. It is Fast, Close, Chill, and stocks a surprising array of items, and you can get a simple and excellent egg sandwich. What else can a guy ask for on a Sunday morning.

D&D is one the few great institutions in Evanston. There's a nice selection of cold cuts in the Deli section, huge selection of craft beer, fresh produce, ready to eat foods, and a variety of other groceries and home needs.

Pricing is very reasonable, and the staff is helpful and friendly.
