I've been under psychiatric care for over 35 years. Dr. Farmer is, by far, the best psychiatrist I have worked with. I have Dr. Farmer's full attention when I speak and he respects my knowledge of my own psychiatric issues. With my help, Dr. Farmer has been able to come up with the perfect "cocktail" of medications to treat my symptoms. No other psychiatrist has even come close to doing that. I'm thankful to have found Dr. Farmer as my life has improved exponentially since I started seeing him.

My daughter has been a patient of Dr. Farmer for going on four years now. She absolutely loves his quality of service, his knowledge about psychiatry, and his empathy and genuine desire to help people. However, whenever appointment day comes around (thankfully only every three months for her), it is an absolute nightmare. She has told me in the past that sometimes it is more stressful for her than her actual disorders. Even if you show up an hour early, you can expect to wait at least three hours - on a good day. We always try to get the first or second appointment of the day so as we are only there for two hours tops. One month she told me she was there for five hours with people still ahead of her in the waiting line, and office staff had long gone home (it was around 8pm at this point), so she walked out and rescheduled.

This seems to be a major issue for all patients who see him - when you have patients waiting for scheduled appointments for over three hours regularly, you are overbooking! I understand that he used to have a joint practice and took on his former partners patients, but what we cannot seem to understand is WHY KEEP ACCEPTING NEW PATIENTS, when you can barely (speaking generously) keep up with the ones you already have? Lately they are trying to reduce wait times (by charging extra if you spend more than 20 minutes in his office, which is about how long it takes to just get your prescriptions written, no talking). This is also ridiculous. If you want to please your existing patients, just stop scheduling new ones. We are begging!

I had to hold out and wait 3 full months to get an appointment as a new patient. Pretty standard. I show up to my appointment 15 minutes early for one of the receptionists to tell me there were 5 people ahead of me and she could not give me an estimated time on when I’d be able to see him-for my scheduled appointment. After 3 months, I still can’t even be guaranteed to see Dr. Farmer on the time I’ve scheduled with him and waited...FOR HIM, or, even be called to be let known I won’t be able to see him for 2-3 hours PAST the time scheduled. I don’t know his abilities as a Doctor but I find it incredibly unprofessional and rude to expect your patients to wait multiple hours past their scheduled time to get 20 minutes with him. So disappointed.

I ve been a patient of Doctor Farmer for over 6 months and he is by far the best Doctor I ve ever been a patient of. He's very caring and listens to his patients and is very accommodating and attentive to his patients needs. Only complaint is the wait times but it is well worth it. You may have to wait but you can be confident that you will be seen and his service is top quality.

First off, all of the complaints about the wait times are warranted...I never experienced the 3-4 hour wait times like some stated in the earlier reviews, but an hour and a half was normal. The scheduling was definitely flawed - no concern for the patients that may be up against the clock. When you set an appointment, it’s just that...an appointment - not supposed to be like dealing with the cable company. The office staff weren’t knowledgeable, nor did they show any semblance of concern or compassion for the patients.

As far as Dr Farmer, I never felt like I connected with him in the three years that I was his patient. Every time I saw him it felt like a formality - I’d get my prescriptions and move on. The last few times I saw him things were pretty uncomfortable, he’d take personal phone calls in mid conversation. Finally, I decided that I’m better off going elsewhere and finding someone that was more focused on me, the patient.

After reading the reviews I called the office because I can't wait around for hours for a SCHEDULED APPOINTMENT. They flat out told me when I asked that if I made an appointment I would be waiting for 3-5 hours to see the Dr. I said are you telling me that even though I have an appointment I'll be waiting 5 hours?!! She said yes absolutely. I said no thank you. It's clear that if you have patients that have scheduled appointments and you know ahead of time that you are overbooking his schedule so much that your patients are waiting 5 hours that you are putting greed and money ahead of patient care. If you have 5 hours to waste sitting in an office then make an appointment, if your time is valuable (as it is) then don't waste your time.

The office is horrible. All the workers there seem angry and miserable. They never return my calls for prescription refills. Dr Farmer is a good doctor but I cannot continue to see him because it takes 2-3 months to book an appointment, as well YOU WILL SIT IN THE WAITING ROOM FOR 2-3 HOURS BEFORE SEEING HIM. The last time I had an appointment with him, it was scheduled for 11:30. Was not seen until 3:45. Not only is this completely unprofessional and unreasonable, but IT WASTES MY DAY! I don't know how a doctors office runs so out of whack. I'm young and typically don't write bad reviews, but being at this office for 2-3 years has been enough.

If you are lucky enough to get an appointment with Dr Farmer you will find the most brilliant, empathetic, and a deeply caring psychiatrist. The team has been working hard to reduce wait times. I feel so grateful for the quality of care I am receiving. Parents are especially grateful for the incredible outcome of Dr Farmer's treatment with children. My feeling is Dr Farmer lives for his work. It is easy to see that many of his patients are referrals that no one else could help.
I also find that unlike ANY OTHER PSYCHIATRIST DR Farmer expects you to be totally part of your plan of treatment. He listens to you and answers your questions honestly and patiently and no judgement. I have felt so great that my need for medication has been reduced. If you check around you will find not many Psychiatrist's take Medicare. If you have complications Dr Farmer will take the needed time to address your concerns. Any other PSYCHIATRIST gives you fifeteen minutes period even with crisis. Good Mental Health to me equals great quality of life. Dr Farmer had helped me achieve this.
