We were recommended to Daphne from a friend, who was recommended from other friend. We thought it was hard to come by an ID with double referrals, so we thought to meet her. This is our 2nd time renovating our house and 2 plus months after moving in, we believe we made the right choice.

(1) Problem solving mindset and capability
No matter what situation, Daphne always come to us with possible solutions. She thinks on the spot every time we share space/lifestyle/budget constraints with her. She also has the technical capability to change the autocad drawings on the spot to show you how things can potentially look like. Whenever any hiccups happen, she is always on the ball, owns the situation and resolves the issues. In some situations, even if it is not part of the scope, like toilet fittings, she volunteered how it can be positioned to be more user friendly

(2) Project management skills
Daphne has a good estimation of when and how things need to be done/can be done, and work around moving parts to keep to timeline and quality. The project documents every versions of changes, sign offs and payments, which made the process reliable and clear. A few times we pulled out the lighting plan or the carpentry plan and asked for clarifications, she was able to explain all of them with patience and confidence.

(3) Workmanship and experience
At one point I remembered exploring external vendors, but what the external vendors said cannot be done, Daphne is able to have it done. We also bought some furniture, and in comparison we can see that the Daphne's carpentry workmanship is good. She also has keen attention to details to spot areas for rectifications. I remembered she recommended a specific tile and hold us how she is going cut it to work with the design constraint. I was not really convinced, and the tiler also did not cut as she said, but she still made it happen and it looked great. I think this comes with experience to know what can or cannot be done, and then work with the vendors to make it happen.

Completed our 5RM resale reno with Sin hui & Chi Fung. Came across reviews on Qanvast and google, and decided to shortlist them amongst a few IDs (including our prev ID we engaged 5 years ago and we like).

If we had to do it all over again, would we engage them? Yes, and here's why.

1. Detailed planning
We liked how they were very prepared for our FIRST meeting, even before we signed them on. 3D layout was sketched in Autocad, and we were able to visualize our home on the spot. Reno timeline and plans were detailed and as a busy family we felt assured that the project will be well managed. Confidence was built before we signed our project.

2. Quality execution
Project was executed well, kept to Reno timelines, workmanship was good, and our home turned out exactly how we hope for. In terms of overall design, color matching, we are very pleased. In some areas we needed rectification, they did not hesitate to do so. Along the way, our IDs helped to coordinate with certain contractors we used (not theirs), helped to receive delivery of some big items, and overall performed the role of project managers very well.

3. Client focus, good communication
To expect any major Reno to go without any hiccups would be naive. What's most important is that IDs were there and acted on what is right for the client. We had no major hiccups, but I believe even if we did, the IDs and UHD would take responsibility (within reason of course). Sin Hui & Chi Fung were accountable for the project throughout our process, and communicated with us timely and clearly. No beat around the bush, no BS. Explained patiently when I had questions and expectations.

On top of everything I've said: both were friendly, professional, patient, and reliable. Talk to them and see if they could be your ID of choice for your project!

We were very pleased with our ID, Sin Hui, who was responsive and attentive to our needs throughout the entire renovation process. Right from the initial meeting we felt assured that Sin Hui would be able to handle and manage the project confidently. Sin Hui understood the theme that we wanted and executed it in an efficient and worry-free manner. Even when there were delays (caused by an external 3rd party), Sin Hui was very prompt in assisting us with corresponding with the 3rd party to ensure that the project gets back on track a soon as possible. Thank you to Chifung and his team for bringing our dream home to life, we are extremely happy with how well the renovation went!

When we visited Urban Home for our first consultation, Chifong presented a few ideas based on the questionnaire we filled up beforehand. We really liked the layout he proposed and decided to continue working with him for our renovation.

Throughout the 2 months of planning and 3 months of renovations, Chifong guided us through the entire process and gave us lots of good feedback and thoughts on our ideas. He constantly updated our 3D house layout to give us a clear picture and visualisation.

I especially want to commend his excellent project management in keeping the works done on time, keeping the house neat and organised during the renovation, and keeping clear and prompt communication with us. He accommodated our every little tweaks along the way while still following very closely to the timeline.

Overall we are very pleased with our renovation. The only issue we faced is that we felt the workmanship of the carpentry could be slightly better. The exterior looks great, but the interior and shelves could be a bit more polished.

But we really loved every feature of the house, from the island kitchen counter, the lovely cove lighting, the curved division of the kitchen and living room floor, and best of all the rotating TV console which serves both the dining and living area.

I believe we can say that we don’t have a single regret choosing Urban Home, and Chifong did a superb job of bringing our dream home to life!

We have now stayed in our new home for 1.5 years, and I believe it’s the perfect time to share my final verdict on Urban Home Design.

Before selecting this firm, I have visited more than 10 others, but none left a lasting impression. However, after our first meeting with our ID, Ah Bing and Xyden, we felt reassured. They presented a clear moodboard and outlined the project process, including a detailed timeline, making everything clear from the start. It's evident they take every project seriously, which is essential for homeowners.

Our renovation took about three months due to the year-end holidays. Despite a few inevitable hiccups, everything was swiftly resolved with minimal disruption. Even after moving in, when we requested some rectification or touch-up, they were promptly handled and completed seamlessly.

I want to express special thanks to Ah Bing for his meticulous attention to detail and immense patience throughout the project. Despite the numerous amendments I made, yet he accommodated every request with thoughtful and practical advice along the way. He constantly provided his best suggestions and personally oversaw the entire project, frequently visiting our home to ensure everything was in order.

He is accommodative to some of my small little requests which I deeply appreciated. Even when I was out of the country, he took the initiative to video call me, providing reassurance and updates that all was progressing smoothly. Given my busy schedule during day time, I have quite a few of late-night discussion with him as well, he have never once showed any sign of discomfort. His incredible work ethic is truly commendable, he will achieve great success in this industry.

In terms of workmanship, we are beyond satisfied. The quality is impeccable, and our relatives have praised both the craftsmanship and the overall aesthetic of our home, which we take great pride in.
